Transformed Resources

e.g. materials, information and customers

an input into the production processes which is used up, or transformed in some way during production processes (should be called yet to be transformed resources)

Named in Syllabus:

  • materials (the actual physical inputs used in the production process)
  • information (information, both internal and external) which is used during the production process and information which is transformed during the production of a service (for example accounting services)
  • customers (where the business produces services for customers, often the customer is an input and is transformed or moved in some way)

Transforming Resources

e.g. human resources and facilities

a resource which is used to act on transformed resources in order to produce the output of the business

Named in Syllabus:

  • facilities (physical premises and machinery used by a business in the production process)
  • human resources (the people within the operations key business function, people who use or operate the diverse range of machinery within facilities which the produce the good or service)
